It is easy, follow these steps:
1. Take a good passport, try as much as possible to comply with the image specification as outlined in the official site (www.dvlottery.state.gov/photo)
2. Scan your photo unto your computer
3. Go to www.picnik.com to edit your photo IT IS FREE
4. Click on the “Get started now!” and give it some minutes to fully load.
5. Click on the “Upload a photo”
6. Select your photo to edit and open, your photo will appear on the edit section of the picnic site.
7. Now, click on “Crop” and use your mouse to drag the edges of the box of squares to focus on the face of the photo.
8. Click on “Constraint” and select the “Square” option and click. This will give you a square photo e.g. 190 x 190. Make sure no vital part of your photo is cut off otherwise repeat the cropping.\
9. After successfully squaring your photo, click OK to return to the EDIT Platform.
10. Now click on “Resize” and adjust the dimensions to 600 x 600, remember to delete the I in front of the number (600I) and click OK.
11. Click on “Save & Share”, scroll down to click on ‘save Photo”. Save with a different file name, you might be advised to save as “….jpg”. Click on “Yes”.
12. Once your photo has been saved into your computer, click on “Close Photo”.
THAT’S ALL!!!
TO CONFIRM:
1. Open www.dvlottery.state.gov/photo
2. Click on browse, open your picnic edited and saved photo and click on check photo……pronto!....what did you see….your photo is valid!
